Fire / EMS Pinning Ceremony
Westminster, MD, Tuesday, November 18, 2025 – This Thursday, November 20th, the Department of Fire and Emergency Medical Services (DFEMS) will hold a Pinning Ceremony at Winters Mill High School, recognizing DFEMS employees hired since December 2024 as well as the promotions of a Station Lieutenant, four (4) Battalion Chiefs and 11 Lieutenant Paramedics.
Chief Robinson shared, “The Pinning Ceremony signifies affirming an oath of office and accepting the 'badge of honor'. It is a special tradition in DFEMS and includes each participant having a loved one join them on stage to pin their badge to their shirt. The employees are also sworn in during the ceremony.”
The evening includes presentation of colors, an Invocation, remarks by Commissioner Ken Kiler, Board President, the swearing in of personnel by Heather DeWees, Clerk of the Circuit Court for Carroll County and finally, the anticipated badge pinning.
