Westminster, MD, Friday, December 27, 2024 - Consider giving holiday trees a second life as compost, mulch, or chips to be used later in a garden or a landscape project. Trees ground into mulch provide good ground cover that reduces soil erosion, deters weed growth, and conserves water in landscaping.  Drop off natural Christmas trees at one of the following locations to be recycled and re-used:

Carroll County Resource Recovery Park (Northern Landfill and Recycling Center)
1400 Baltimore Boulevard, Westminster
Monday through Friday, 7 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Saturday 7 a.m. to 3 p.m.

WeCare Denali
7901 Kabik Court, Woodbine
Select Saturdays, 7 a.m. to 11:45 a.m.
Proper ID is required.

Call 410-386-4550 for the landfill or 410-795-7666 for WeCare Denali during inclement weather or for operating hours. Please call to check for holiday hours.

Residents living within a municipality are encouraged to contact town and city offices for the Christmas tree pick-up schedule.  Residents living outside incorporated areas should contact their waste hauler to find out if Christmas tree pick-up is provided.

Remember that this is for live trees only and not artificial trees of any kind.  Before dropping off your tree, remove all non-organic objects, such as lights, wire, tinsel, and ornaments.

For more information, contact the Carroll County Resource Recovery Park (Northern Landfill and Recycling Center) at 410-386-4550. WeCare Denali can be reached at 410-795-7666 or check the solid waste website for a posted schedule of open Saturdays and more information.
