PSEG Field Work to Begin the Week of November 4, 2024
Westminster, MD, Monday, November 4, 2024 – The Board of Carroll County Commissioners (board) has been contacted by PSEG, the contractor for the Maryland Piedmont Reliability Project (MPRP) indicating that field crews will be conducting services in Carroll County beginning the week of November 4th. The purpose of the work is to take pictures to plan for access roads to the eventual proposed Right of Way (ROW).
The email from PSEG noted: The field crews representing PSEG will consist of two standard trucks and four individuals. They will be in the vicinity of the Proposed Route to conduct initial field studies. These field crews will be working from within the public roads and parks only. These initial field studies do not require access to private property and the field crews will not be engaging property owners to request access.
Initial field studies include:
- Viewshed Visual Assessment - To develop photographic simulations of the Proposed Route.
- Visual construction assessments - To assess existing site conditions.
- Survey activities - To validate public data.
The purpose of sharing this information with the community is to keep everyone informed and does not condone the installation of the power lines. The board upholds the principles of protecting property owner rights, local control and land use and permitting authority. The proposed project does not respect any of these concepts. For these reasons, the Carroll County Board of Commissioners continue to oppose the Maryland Piedmont Reliability Project.
Thank you for your patience and cooperation.
