Westminster, MD, Thursday, September 5, 2024 – On Wednesday, September 11, 2024, county representatives will gather at the Carroll County Public Safety Training Center 9/11 Memorial at 8:30 a.m. to commemorate the 23rd anniversary of the September 11, 2001 attacks. Community members are encouraged to attend the outdoor ceremony at 50 Kate Wagner Road in Westminster.

Michael Robinson, Director of Carroll County Fire and EMS will be the Master of Ceremonies. The brief service will include remarks by county officials, an invocation and benediction, an 8:46 am moment of silence, and a wreath-laying. Posting the Colors and Retiring the Colors will be presented by the Carroll County Sheriff’s Department Honor Guard. 

Commissioner Ken Kiler shares, “This is a solemn, meaningful day every year, a day when we pause to honor those we lost and uphold our promise to never forget the events of 9/11 and those who sacrificed so much on that day and all the years that followed,”

The event will be recorded and available for viewing on the county's Facebook page and the county's YouTube Page. In addition, the ceremony will be replayed on Comcast Channel 24.
