Westminster, MD, Tuesday, November 21, 2023 – The Nature Center at Piney Run Park, located at 30 Martz Road in Sykesville, will begin a three-month pilot to be cashless starting December 1st.  Beginning on this date, only credit and debit cards will be accepted at the Nature Center. Visa, Master Card, and Discover are accepted.

The pilot only affects the Nature Center and is expected to operate for several months, with a decision to be made for the future of the system by March 1, 2024. Program registrations, pavilion rentals, and season passes can be purchased online at https://ccrec.recdesk.com/

The park anticipates that moving to a cashless system will improve convenience and accuracy by reducing transaction times and the amount of time park staff spend managing cash, decreasing errors, and also improving accountability and auditing practices. 

The Piney Run Park Nature Center is a special focal point of Piney Run Park, where naturalists are available year-round to answer questions and share nature's surprises. The Nature Center staff offers environmental education programs that are scheduled for schools, organized groups, our Mother Nature programs series, and birthday parties as well as the public programs offered in our Program Guide.
