Westminster, MD, Monday, August 26, 2024 – Carroll County Government’s Department of Planning & Land Management is currently holding an online rain barrel and compost bin sale event.  Orders can be placed at  www.enviroworld.us/carrollcountymd/

The order deadline is October 20, 2024. Due to the ordering process, there are no exceptions to this date.

Rain barrels and compost bins must be picked up on Saturday, October 26, 2024, between the hours of 9:00 a.m. - 11:30 a.m., during the Carroll County Environmental Symposium at the Carroll County Agriculture Center, located at 706 Agricultural Center Drive, Westminster, Maryland.  Rain barrels and compost bins cannot be purchased during the pickup event and will not be available for pickup after this date.

The pre-order sale features the FreeGarden™ RAIN barrel at $70 and the FreeGarden™ EARTH compost bin at $60; affordable, attractive, and easy-to-use products that make home composting and waste diversion simple. Also available for pre-order are compost turners for $17 and kitchen collector containers for $12. 

For those interested, the Bay-Wise Committee of the Master Gardeners will demonstrate proper rain barrel setup at 10:00 a.m. on October 26 during the Environmental Symposium.  Registration is not required for the demonstration.

The use of rain barrels and compost bins provides homeowners with an environmentally beneficial, cost-effective, and efficient alternative to care for their lawns and gardens.
